Anthony Avery (Tony) Simmons is a great-great-grandson of Edmund McIlhenny, the creator of Tabasco® brand pepper sauce, and a member of the fifth generation of the McIlhenny family involved in the production of Tabasco sauce on Avery Island, Louisiana, and the seventh family member to assume McIlhenny Company leadership, still family-owned and -operated.
Mr. Simmons is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of McIlhenny Company, as well as interim Chairman of the Board. He joined the Board of Directors in 1998 and was elected to Executive Vice President in 2000 and President in 2012. Mr. Simmons is also President and a Director of Avery Island, Inc. As an active and concerned member of the community and environment, he also serves on the board of the America's Wetland Foundation.
Prior to joining McIlhenny Company, Mr. Simmons was President of Manitowoc Southeastern for 10 years, an independent crane distributor located in the Southeast.
Raised in New Orleans and on Avery Island, Mr. Simmons holds a degree in speech from Loyola University in New Orleans. An avid golfer and outdoor sportsman, he is also a fine wine enthusiast and aficionado of classic automobiles. He resides on Avery Island with his wife Jeanie and has a son and daughter and granddaughter.
